ShareTweetPinMail

Lanre Gentry, the hotelier husband of actress Mercy Aigbe may be prosecuted by the Lagos State Government which has begun investigations into allegations of battery leveled against him by his wife.

According to reports, the actress has tabled her case before the Lagos Ministry of Women Affairs for investigation and prompt prosecution of her better half over alleged battery and assault.

“I am commenting on this based on your manner of approach, so please I’d like my privacy to be respected. Truly, the case is with us here,” a source from the ministry who pleaded anonymity said.

Continuing, the source added that; “It was reported here by the victim herself, and because of the governor’s zero tolerance for domestic violence, we are as a matter of urgency investigating the whole drama. It is a good thing that it has also been brought to the public eye.

“We’re still very much on top of the matter and we’ll get it to its logical conclusion,” the source added.

A CT scan conducted at St. Solomon Health Care Limited showed that Mercy suffered a head fracture after she was battered by her husband.

The actress had to go through the check-up for swellings or fractures within the head, usually caused by blunt forced trauma and the conclusion of the CT scan reveals that Mercy suffered fracture on her left orbit with hermeation of orbital fat, medial rectus and left interior oblique muscles.

Mercy who according to her has been suffering and enduring domestic violence only made it public yesterday when news of her assault by her husband Lanre Gentry went viral.

More than 300 000 pounds were taken out from women by an American general serving in Afghanistan. It was a multi-million-dollar scam provided by a citizen of Nigeria. The fraudster used real images of American soldiers serving in Afghanistan. He managed to convince women that he had a desire to marry them and live in the United Kingdom, but he needed help.

He posed as General James Raul or General James Krulak to his victims. He persuaded these women that he had a treasure of $8.5 million as his retirement fund. He needed only few hundred thousand pounds to take this money from the fund. Few women fall victim to this fraud.

The man who managed to create this fantastic potentially multi-million Yahoo boy scheme was Robinson Agbonifoayetan – 32 years old. Now he is expecting his prison sentence.

The richest Yahoo Boy in Nigeria - Robinson Agbonifoayetan

What is fascinating about his case is that he managed to earn more than 300 000 pounds in just six months of the fraud. It makes him not only one of the richest yahoo boys in Nigeria but also one of the fastest to reach this sum of money. Scotland Yard detectives who investigated this fraud, informs that 300 000 pounds are the confirmed sum of money that Robinson Agbonifoayetan managed to lure out. Still, some women who also fall victims to this fraud just did not ask police for help. This man could potentially get few millions of pounds in a year or two if he had not been stopped.

Group Demands Release Of 3 IPOB Members Detained Along Kanu

April 29, 2017Group Demands Release Of 3 IPOB Members Detained Along Kanu

ShareTweetPinMail

Nzuko Umunna, an Igbo socio-cultural association has called on the Federal Government to release the three members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) detained along the freed leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

While an Abuja Federal High Court had on Tuesday granted Kanu bail on health grounds, three others, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, detained along him were not granted bail.

But in a statement on Saturday signed by Nzuko Umunna coordinator and secretary, Ngozi Odumuko and Paschal Mbanefo respectively, the group warned against any further abuse of the rights of Nnamdi Kanu.

While it said it was happy that Kanu has been released after a protracted detention by the Federal Government, Nzuko Umunna lamented the stringent conditions attached to the bail.

The statement read, “With great sense of responsibility, Nzuko Umunna join other well-meaning Nigerians to welcome the smooth perfection of the bail granted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, despite the stringent conditions attached to the bail which have also been questioned by many Nigerians and some of which have the semblance of infringement of fundamental human rights of Mazi Kanu.

“As we welcome Kanu’s bail, we wish to state clearly that bail should be extended to his colleagues too, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, as has been previously granted by the court.

Read also: After one and half yrs in detention, Kanu finally leaves Kuje prison

“We also wish to commend the efforts of Kanu’s legal team and all those who have been steadfast and supportive in the call for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu and his colleagues. Nzuko Umunna salutes the timely response of the South East Caucus of the Senate especially Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and also the two others who signed the bail bond for the release of Kanu, Tochukwu Uchendu and Jewish Chief High Priest, Immanuel-El Shalom Oka-Ben Madu.

“We appreciate the various groups and leaders who showed and have continued to show solidarity to Kanu and others in the course of this trial.

“Finally, it will be recalled that Nzuko Umunna has earlier called for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu and his colleagues and we are not reneging on that until justice is seen to have been done.

“We wish to reiterate our stand that the rights of Kanu and his colleagues must be respected and that the government should as a matter of urgency look into the numerous issues that have given rise to the unprecedented upsurge in agitations in the South East part of the country instead of using brutal force to suppress peaceful protests, an action which would always be counterproductive.”

Vardy Fires Leicester Toward Survival As Sunderland Get Relegated

ShareTweetPinMail

Leicester City forward, Jamie Vardy, scored the only goal of their Premier League clash against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday, to secure their first win in four League games.

The win places the reigning champions on 40 points.

It was on 43 minutes that Leicester broke the deadlock when Shinji Okazaki intercepted Salomon Rondon’s poor backpass and fed Jamie Vardy, who finished coolly past Ben Foster.

The home side, who are attempting to reach a club-record Premier League points tally of 50, have failed to score in five consecutive games for the first time in their history, losing four of them.

Elsewhere, Sunderland’s Premier League stay ended as visiting Bournemouth grabbed all three points with a late winner at the Stadium of Light.

The result coupled with Hull City’s draw at Southampton means Sunderland side are 14 points from safety with just four games left.

The defeat marks the 23rd of the season for Sunderland’s 23rd, and means the Black Cats are relegated from the Premier League for a record fourth time and in David Moyes’ first season in charge.

Bournemouth’s Joshua King scored the only goal with just two minutes left, tapping home from Ryan Fraser’s pass.

The five-minute music video released by the defiant accuser of the Auchi-based cleric titled ‘I depend on You’, was shot and produced by Worship Media based in Toronto, Canada.

The music video seemingly highlights her travails, oppression and persecution in the hands of Apostle Suleman.

April 26, 2017 $30BN LOAN: Buhari Strikes Deal With Nat’l Assembly

$30BN LOAN: Buhari Strikes Deal With Nat’l Assembly

ShareTweetPinMail

More than five months after the Senate rejected a $29.96 billion loan request from President Muhammadu Buhari, the Red Chamber, on Wednesday, made a U-turn, following a deal struck between the presidency and the leadership of the National Assembly.

In the resubmitted request, President Buhari is seeking the nod of the National Assembly to secure a $5.851 billion from the China Exim Bank.

He is also asking the National Assembly to approve another $6.926 billion from the World Bank. The two loan requests total $12.912 billion.

According to the breakdown of the loan request, Lagos-Kano railway modernisation project and the Lagos-Ibadan segment will gulp $1.231 billion.

The Lagos-Kano railway modernisation project and Kano-Kaduna segment will take $1.146 billion, while the Coastal Railway project, Lagos-Calabar segment is expected to gulp $3.474 billion. The three components are part of the loan request from China Exim Bank.

Part of the $6.926 World Bank loan request, will be used to finance projects in the Boko Haram ravaged North-East and also provide social inclusion and welfare advancement project.

Polio eradication support and routine immunisation project will get $125 million. Community and social development project will gulp $75 million, while Nigeria’s states health programme investment project will take $125 million.

State education programme investment programme investment project is to take $100 million. Nigeria youth employment and social support project is expected to get $100 million. Fadama 3 project is go get $50 million.

Part of President Buhari’s letter reads: “As you are aware, the funds available under the China/Africa fund are limited and loan applications from all African countries are funded based on first come first serve. And therefore there is an urgent need for us to sign these loans as soon as they are approved or we will lose out in the event that we delay in signing the loan agreement. These loans form part of our overall rail funding strategy.

“We are already in the process of completing the concession of the Port Harcourt to Maiduguri line to immediately link the eastern part of the nation. We fully intend to source further consessioning funding to ultimately upgrade this critical line to high speed standard guage line. These projects form part of our overall plans to rescusitate the rail transport across the nation and thereby drive inclusive growth.

“You may also recall my earlier request for the speedy clerance of some emergency projects earmarked for the North East in the 2016-2018 borrowing plan. You will also recall that my request was based on the need to consolidate the relative peace at that time. Since then the situation as you are aware, has changed dramatically and introduced even more urgency to the situation in the zone than ever before.

“While the capture and destruction of the stronghold of Boko Haram in Sambisa forest was welcome news, the recent and unfortunate incident of the bombing of an IDP camp by mistake with loss of civilian lives, brings to fore the need to resettle the people back to their homes quickly in other to avoid such incidence in the future.

“However, for us to be able to do this, there is need for urgent consideration of the identified projects, which will enable us to start reconstruction and rehabilitation of the region in other to create jobs for the people and rehabilitate the schools to get the children of the streets into schools.”

“I wish to also inform the Distinguished Senate that our national Social Safety Net programme, which is intended to assist the poor and most vulnerable people in our society nationwide started this January 2017 with the first cash transfer payments in eight states.

“However, for us to expand the programme to all the states, we need additional resources in addition to our 2017 budgetary allocation.

“Giving the current state of our economy and the need to urgently address some of our infrastructural deficiencies in other to quickly improve the livelihood of our people, it has become imperative that we work together in an expeditious way to get our economy out of recession and back to growth.

“Distinguished Senate, an expeditious consideration and approval of these requests will go a long way in bringing stability to the North East and improvement on the infrastructure and by extension a great improvement in the economy and livelihood of our people.

“In view of the above, the Distinguished Senate is invited to urgently consider and approve all the above projects totalling a sum of $6.926billion to enable us commence the construction and rehabilitation of the North East, provide for the poor and most vulnerable people and commence rail projects in ernest,” the letter further read.

On November 1st, 2016, President Buhari forwarded a request to both chambers of the National Assembly to approve his request to borrow $29.96 billion to finance projects cut across all sectors with special emphasis on infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, water supply, growth and employment generation, poverty reduction through safety net programmes and governance, as well as financial management reforms.

Lawmakers had revealed then that they rejected the President’s loan request because of the non-attachment of the breakdown of the $29.9 billion external borrowing plan to the letter sent to the Senate.

The second reason, then was that President Buhari refused to send Federal Government’s 2016-2018 borrowing plan contained in the last paragraph of the letter.

“The President in the letter said there was an attachment containing the breakdown of the external loan request. But there is no attachment. President Buhari did not attach the breakdown. There is no way we can consider such a request.

“Secondly, the president has not sent Federal Government’s 2016-2018 borrowing plan to the Senate. That ought to have been sent first for consideration and passage before this request. If we consider this request, how do we do that? These are the obvious reasons. There is no political undertone here,” a lawmaker had told our correspondent.

Part of the first paragraph under dispute then read: “I wish to refer to the above subject and to submit the attached draft of Federal Government 2016-2018 External Borrowing (Rolling) Plan for consideration and early approval by the National Assembly to ensure prompt implementation of the projects…”

The last paragraph under dispute then read: “…it has become inevitable to request for the National Assembly leadership approval pending the consideration and approval of the 2016-2118 borrowing plan by the National Assembly to enable us disburse these funds immediately.”

Making further clarification on the rejection in November, immediate-past Senate Leader, Ndume told Senate correspondents: “I was shocked. I think it was defeated on technical grounds. I will try and reintroduce it again. We must not throw the baby and the bad water away. It ought to have been referred to the relevant committee, but because of the omission of some things, it was rejected.

“We expect them to include the things. There is nothing to worry about. We will do what is right. We will look at it on the basis of merit. We will do this as the best way we can. Those things that are necessary will be included.”

ShareTweetPinMail

A 42-year-old criminal, Hunter Poxsley based in Westerville, Ohio has turned himself into local authorities and returned loot he stole to police days after he successfully robbed a local bank.

The robber who also doubles as a welfare recipient and who has lived with his mother for his entire life, turned himself in to police after his 78-year-old mom asked him to do so.

“I told him that if he didn’t bring back the money, he’d burn in Hell for eternity and that I’d kick him out of the house, ” Hunter’s mom Theresa Poxsley said.

Hunter brought back the $2,600 he had stolen of a grand total of $7,800 he had shared with two other accomplices who were both arrested several hours later after he revealed their whereabouts to the police.

His mother told reporters that she disapproved of his actions, but that since he gave himself up to the police, she believes he did the right thing in the end.

“I didn’t raise my son to become a criminal, but a good God-fearing Christian. I think in the end, he did the right thing” she told reporters.

“Jesus will find a place in his heart to forgive him” she added.

EFCC Backs Down, Allows Mrs Jonathan Free Access To Her $5.9m

EFCC Backs Down, Allows Mrs Jonathan Free Access To Her $5.9m

ShareTweetPinMail

Patience Jonathan now has free access to her $5.9 million as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday withdrew its application to restrain her from accessing the funds.

The anti-graft agency had applied for a stay of execution of a court order which unfroze the Skye Bank account where the money is deposited.

EFCC made the application after a Lagos Federal High Court presided over by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, ordered that the former First Lady and wife of erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan’s account be unfrozen.

However, when the case came up on Tuesday, a counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the court that the commission had changed its mind about appealing the unfreezing order and was withdrawing its earlier application on stay of execution.

Patience’s lawyer, Ifedayo Adedipe, confirming the development, told Justice Olatoregun that the EFCC’s counsel had served him with the EFCC’s application to withdraw its application for stay of proceedings.

Justice Olatoregun, subsequently granted their prayers to withdraw their respective applications.
This means that Mrs Jonathan now has unhindered access to her bank account.

Based on an ex parte application by the anti-graft agency last year, Justice Olatoregun had ordered that multiple accounts linked with Mrs Jonathan be temporarily frozen pending the outcome of the case before the court.

An operative of the EFCC Abdulahi Tukur, had told the judge that the funds retained in the said accounts were suspected proceeds of crime and needed to be investigated, adding that it would be in the interest of justice that the accounts be frozen.

Bobrisky Finally Admits He’s Gay

Bobrisky Finally Admits He’s Gay

ShareTweetPinMail

Snapchat celebrity Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky has finally let slip that he is actually gay after several denials.

The bleaching cream expert revealed that much on social media platform Instagram, while listing all his achievements as he turned 25.

“Yes I’m gay. I have over 11 visas in my passport; I live in 5 bedrooms duplex alone in Lekki, well furnished,” he wrote on Instagram.

Continuing, he added that; “U can check my snap for enough videos, not with friends. Haters will say is not my house, which I rented it.

“At least I pay rent; I have access to it whenever I want. I drive a 2012 Benz; I also own a Lexus and a Toyota Camry. Abeg what other achievements can I have at 25 years and more still coming?”

Bobrisky has on many occasions denied that he is gay but he has on most occasions let out his actual sexual orientation without even knowing.

Three months ago, when trying to intimate his lover that he is back from his holiday travel on Snapchat, he wrote thus; “I’m back home. Bae called and asked me to start going home. I’m a good babe, so I left there. Always listen to your man”.

The implication of his statement, “I am a good babe”, implies that he is the woman and an obedient one at that in the gay relationship.

In the post on Snapchat, Bobrisky also noted that he does not need to transgender himself in order to be ‘hot’ for his bae whose identity he has jealously shielded ever since their relationship started.

Lagos State Government has said a whooping N200 billion ( $500) million dollars will be injected in the redevelopment Ilubirin housing estate to be at par with other waterfront residential scheme in the world.

The state’s Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, who disclosed this Monday at a press briefing in Lagos said the government is putting massive infrastructure in the project to accommodate both residential and commercial purposes.

Lawal said the government alone cannot handle the project adding that it will be executed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme.

“Towards the completion of Illubirin housing estate, approval was granted for the remodeling of the estate from hitherto purely residential into a mixed development of residential, commercial and leisure through PPP.”

The commissioner also informed that the government in partnership with private developers is constructing 20,000 housing units in the next five years under the Lagos affordable public housing (LAPH).

He said the various estates christened Jubilee housing estates will be situated at Ijora, Badiya, Imota, Ayobo, Idale (Badagry), Ilamoye –Isolo, Abijo, Tolu (Ajegunle), Abule Ado, Ikota Ibeshe, Owutu and Igbogbo.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has confirmed that an arrangement is being worked out with the British government for the unveiling of Nigerians who own houses and other assets in the United Kingdom.

She made this known to journalists in Washington D.C. Sunday night, pointing out that the information will be used to compare the amount of tax

paid in Nigeria by those that own four or five properties in the UK.

“There is going to be much better cooperation from the international community. The British government under the beneficiary ownership register, which was signed with David Cameron before he left, is going to give us the list of everyone (Nigerians) that owns property in the United Kingdom.

“Once it is owned by a Nigerian, they will give us the name. With that, we are able to compare the amount of tax those that own four or five properties in the UK pay in Nigeria.

“It is going to be a very systematic way of ensuring that people do the right thing,” the minister stated.

Recall that the executive secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, PACAC, Mr Bolaji Owosanoye, had disclosed that negotiations between the governments of Nigeria and the UK to get information about Nigerians who own property in that country has reached advanced stage.

He explained that the measure being taken by the governments of both countries was a step forward in the fight against corruption.

Owosanoye said, “There is no doubt that rogues in government oppress and impoverish their people by corruption and this must be sanctioned by collective action. We need to make sure that there is no safe haven for you (corrupt officials) to run to. Britain has promised that by 2018, she will provide Nigeria with the information about who owns what and where; that is very helpful.

“These include all the houses that have been bought by public officials or accounts that are held by public officials on which they are right now not paying taxes or which they cannot explain the sources. So, if you cannot buy a house in England, you have to look for somewhere else. But if all countries criminalise this, then it becomes much more difficult unless you want to buy the house on Mars.”
